Lead Carpenter


As a Lead Carpenter, you will be responsible for working with your PM to contribute to the job’s success both from a skilled labor perspective and from a big picture implementation perspective. You will oversee an apprentice and sometimes other carpenters and must be able to communicate well and work well with others. As a manager, you will be responsible for conducting monthly one on one meetings with your apprentice to discuss progress, goals, and providing support to ensure they are meeting their goals.  You must be able to read and interpret architectural and design drawings, assist trade partners, implement a quality control checklist, and pay attention to the job schedule to ensure everyone on site stays on target.

  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Minimum of 5-10 years carpentry experience  
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation that can carry your own tools and materials (there is the possibility of using a Truth work truck in the future)
  • Ability to lead and perform demolition, site protection, framing, windows, siding, and trim carpentry
  • Basic math and geometry skills 
  • Must be able to organize trade partners and communicate with home owners in a professional manner
  • Ability to use technology to leverage efficiency and communication
  • Experience assisting Project Managers in keeping jobs on track and on time (we use BuilderTrend project management software) as well as maintaining an organized site
  • Ability to lead and teach and apprentice as well as work with other staff carpenters
  • Strong work ethic, prioritization and time management skills. MUST be self-regulated and know how to take initiative to get things done on time and to a high standard of excellence


  • Attend hand-off meeting to gain an in depth understanding of each job
  • Assist Project Manager in architectural layout discussions and plan implementation on site
  • Provide assignments, direction and support to other carpenters, apprentices, and various trade partners
  • Thoroughly document work and notes daily in BuilderTrend
  • Upload daily progress pics into Builder Trend
  • Attend weekly meetings with PM and client
  • Perform demolition, framing, siding, window installation, and trim work (will vary per job)
  • Provide daily mentorship and training to assistant carpenters/apprentices


This is a W-2 salaried position, pay rate is $25/hr-$35/hr

  • Potential to use an electric work vehicle after 1-2 years (we are building an electric fleet)
